Dk Ads has been busy of late locking in a new stamp that's sure to be a hit with all boogers in the Bay. I got this shot in my email box yesterday, the flowers represent the coming of spring and the nicely crafted blue steed in the back there represents a new age of bodyboarding in the Bay area. Thats my interpretation anyways... Go Buy One!! email or call Ads on the following deatils

Sorry!!! i know how much of a disappointment this week's post have been (actually there hasnt even been any posts to have the chance to disappointed with). But alas! we've got some images from the Camp Out from a couple of weeks back. Thanks to the mad cats at SB Photo. More to come, including the promised video.....
Ok, the video of last week's camp out is finished. But due to Nathan using to much of our Internet download this month i am unable to upload it to the blog at this stage. I plan on doing it this afternoon at uni. The vid looks mad, and marks a comeback for young film maker Dave 'Reno' Thredgate, an early prediction but i think this kid has what it takes to make it to Cannes next year.
Sausages anyone? 120 of these little suckers were fried up over what was the PSBC Camp Out 09. It all seemed a blur of smoke but the 23 happy campers got the waves they were looking for and everything else that goes with a successful camping adventure, rain, fire, dingos. I managed to cope the beating of my life at Janies, getting rolled off the wedge rock and left clinging for safety, subsequently putting me out of action for the weekend. The up side to this story is that i managed to capture some good clips on Reno's video cam, and all the action will be posted up on the Blog this coming week. Thanks to all the groms that fetched fire wood, and to everyone in general for being all round legend campers!
hey grommets,
We've all at some stage of our adolescent lives wanted to be apart of something bigger and bader. For Sinatra there was the Rat Pack, for Fat Albert there was the Cosby Kids, and for Ryan Keating there was the Shoaly Crew. What im trying to say is the gangs aren't as bad as they might be depicted in society, i'm sure the Shoaly crew didn't devote their time on the weekends to public service but they did create a unique sense of companionship, some of the boys tore apart the local beaches on the foam, some just regulated the car parks. What Ryan contributed was a little different, he wanted to take the back seat and capture his mates at what they usually do best, with a lens and a whole lota creative flair. An elusive character at times, Ryan along with almost half of the once prominent Shoaly Crew made the pilgrimage west, all the way to another ocean in fact. There he continues to shoot photos, maybe at a broader scale of subjects (W.A is blowing up in terms of bodyboarding talent right now) but none the less he's continuing what he started all those years ago, when his 'crew' was at the top of the food chain back in the Bay. He's been kind enough to throw some images over to the blog for you groms to look at, the Box both east and west versions. Its funny how these break share the same name yet there pretty well polar opposite, one being a left hand beach wedge the other a slabby right reef ( maybe a little too coincidental?). Hopefully we'll see more of the bays favorite photog in the bodyboarding media this year, hell he's had a good start. (thanks for not getting angry that we used your shot on our banner Keats).

I miss boxy....... Even with all the variety and quality waves I’ve been scoring up here, I still check the reports and get a bit jumpy when I can see it’ll be on. Let’s call a spade a spade here....without Boxy, the bay would be a shit place to surf. The Reef and Boaty are fickle fuckers, Oney is a freaking terrible beachy (despite Loomsey’s delusionary attempts to convince the world otherwise!)....Morna is not much better.....Zenith is a poor mans Boxy..... Boxy is THE wave in the bay.
With it’s ease of access (I reckon you need to give ten hard strokes out your out the back on a good day)square side wedge, air bowls and the fact that it works in so many conditions ( from Ne to S swells and ditto winds thanks to those big arse hills on either side of her) it’s the perfect vehicle for the bays Bodyboarders to cut their teeth on.
The fact that Boxy is such a central hub also provides a unique cultural aspect to the Bay’s Bodyboarding community. Because everyone usually surfs in the same place, everyone tends to know everyone, and everyone see’s each other surfing, Boxy serves as a kind of hothouse to push everyone’s riding and level of aspirations higher. There’s a sense of community and continuity that is very rare, and I believe is what is responsible for producing so many good riders in the bay. So next time your out Boxy, take a moment to look around, soak it up, and quietly say thanks for what it gives the bay.....
Ok troops, we are going on a roadie! It will take place on the second weekend of May the 9th and 10th, probably leave friday the 8th in the afternoon, everyone is welcome. We are currently organizing the transport there, which will most likely be a convoy of cars. Thats all the details i have at the moment, but stayed tuned as we'll be posted up more information in the coming days. Oh, and were going to be camping at Treach!!!

the bad news is that box looked nothing like this on the weekend for the comp, and that it got cancelled due to mother nature not providing the ocean force needed to throw round 2 of PSBC. But dry those those eyes ladies, the inaugural club camp is set to go ahead in the beginning of May, dates are not final yet but YES it is going to happen, our highly skilled organizer Nathan Graham is working out numbers and cutting costs as we speak, so stay tuned cause were not leaving anyone behind who wants to be there.....to be continued
Waves were ok in the bay today by reports but buoyweather unfortunately doesn't hold the same high hopes for Sunday, so everyone cross their fingers and hopefully those little swell forecasts rise over the next couple of days, stranger things have happened. And besides, when was buoyweather ever right?
Thought id just make some of the peeps aware of another well maintained and updated bay blog. Spitroasted.com has got same dam fine images from around the Bay area and some pretty cool/funny insights too. Get interested! its about bodyboarding (...and the Bay).
Speaking of comebacks, where the hell is this guy?! If you come across Cal in the street, throw him a colored rashy and send him down on Sunday morning. This shot is from a momentous round in late 07, from memory Cal took it out in fine form.
Only one day old and PSBC have cracked a sure fire way to generate interest within the greater bodyboarding community. The Ribs are here to stay people, im feeling it could well be the next iconic sub culture symbol of the new age ( think the 'dog town' cross in the 70s).....maybe......
Reports have been coming out of the scene that Nath the super grom has pick the boogs back up and purchased a new pair of ML Churchill fins, he's been seen on a few occasions getting chatty in the line up with his priceless enthusiasm, and still shreding on the foam. Nath disappeared during the 08 season noting that he's "been focusing on his surf lifesaving duties, and working towards his bronze medallion".
Hoping for a bit of this on Sunday, box beach mid winter morning glory. From all reports there's been a fair bit of shrapling going on there during the week (pics to come), don't forget to bring your A game come the weekend boys!!
This year instead of settling for the standard t-shirt we decided to put your hard earned membership money toward some sweet hoodies, to keep your asses warm while we try to run comps during the middle of winter. Youll be thanking us come July, and you can thank Dallas for being a post modern mother licker and jivin' up the club logo so the chicks at shoaly shops will have their froth on! We may have them by the next comp, but most probably the one after.
