Final round 2009 and presso
The final round for 2009 will be held on the 13th of December, that's a Sunday folks! The presso will follow on shortly after at Dk ad's place in boat harbour. He has indeed informed me he will be holding guided tours of the solution workshop during the afternoon also. There'll be plenty of prizes from the good people at 4play, which includes a board for each division winner and the prestigeous surfer of the year award. I PROMISE I'll have the leader board up here during week so that you guys can work out what it'll take to take down the top spots. Till then guys keep shreding..

Round 4 anyone?
Solution Reps for PSBC
I really hope people still check this blog...
Well what can i say alot has happened since the last post. Nathan brought a kombie, The thrill "Michael Jackson" had a cocktail that left him dead and most probably frozen untill someone gives a shit to bring the corpse back to life. AND we had a pretty fun little round 3 at Anna Bay Reef.
For the guys that managed to make it (on extremely short notice) thank you. Id throw up some results but for the life of me i cant remember what everyone came in the finals. What i can do is list the riders who made the finals, and remember to make a record of who came what by asking everyone at the next comp.

Ok, no comp last Sunday, lets try this Sunday.
No go on the right hander producing the goods on Sunday. Although there has been heaps of push by members to mix up the comp location to the other quality spots around the bay for the rest of the year, so were going to do our best. Reef, kingley are really good options as well. So yeah, we are going to try again for this Sunday, keep an eye on the reports people..

Listen up!
I have some news about the camp... The forecast looks like we might have some swell which is good but we at PSBC have decided that we will take along a photographer to document the trip! We have saved some coin and decided it would be best spent on shooting you maggits at your best. SB Photo will be tagging along and will be shooting every move that goes down, the pictures taken will be released to PSBC and we will give you all a disc with them on it! These guys are very professional and have shot the top pro's out boxy so get keen! We need to know the numbers for the camp also so please get in contact with one of us and let us know if you are in!

the shoaly crew lost boys..Part 1
We've all at some stage of our adolescent lives wanted to be apart of something bigger and bader. For Sinatra there was the Rat Pack, for Fat Albert there was the Cosby Kids, and for Ryan Keating there was the Shoaly Crew. What im trying to say is the gangs aren't as bad as they might be depicted in society, i'm sure the Shoaly crew didn't devote their time on the weekends to public service but they did create a unique sense of companionship, some of the boys tore apart the local beaches on the foam, some just regulated the car parks. What Ryan contributed was a little different, he wanted to take the back seat and capture his mates at what they usually do best, with a lens and a whole lota creative flair. An elusive character at times, Ryan along with almost half of the once prominent Shoaly Crew made the pilgrimage west, all the way to another ocean in fact. There he continues to shoot photos, maybe at a broader scale of subjects (W.A is blowing up in terms of bodyboarding talent right now) but none the less he's continuing what he started all those years ago, when his 'crew' was at the top of the food chain back in the Bay. He's been kind enough to throw some images over to the blog for you groms to look at, the Box both east and west versions. Its funny how these break share the same name yet there pretty well polar opposite, one being a left hand beach wedge the other a slabby right reef ( maybe a little too coincidental?). Hopefully we'll see more of the bays favorite photog in the bodyboarding media this year, hell he's had a good start. (thanks for not getting angry that we used your shot on our banner Keats).

Camp Out!!
Get ready Kids, its confirmed. The camp will run the 2nd weekend of May, and we'll be heading up the coast to seal rocks. For those guys who havent been there before it's a magical place filled with enchanted forests, giant man eating lizards and some of the most perfect beachies known to man. So dust off the tent and start spreading the word. Matt will be sending out leaflets via email and so on very soon, looks a thou the cost will be around $70, which includes petrol, camp site hire and food costs (depending on numbers coming).
Adopted son speaks again...
I miss boxy....... Even with all the variety and quality waves I’ve been scoring up here, I still check the reports and get a bit jumpy when I can see it’ll be on. Let’s call a spade a spade here....without Boxy, the bay would be a shit place to surf. The Reef and Boaty are fickle fuckers, Oney is a freaking terrible beachy (despite Loomsey’s delusionary attempts to convince the world otherwise!)....Morna is not much better.....Zenith is a poor mans Boxy..... Boxy is THE wave in the bay.
With it’s ease of access (I reckon you need to give ten hard strokes out your out the back on a good day)square side wedge, air bowls and the fact that it works in so many conditions ( from Ne to S swells and ditto winds thanks to those big arse hills on either side of her) it’s the perfect vehicle for the bays Bodyboarders to cut their teeth on.
The fact that Boxy is such a central hub also provides a unique cultural aspect to the Bay’s Bodyboarding community. Because everyone usually surfs in the same place, everyone tends to know everyone, and everyone see’s each other surfing, Boxy serves as a kind of hothouse to push everyone’s riding and level of aspirations higher. There’s a sense of community and continuity that is very rare, and I believe is what is responsible for producing so many good riders in the bay. So next time your out Boxy, take a moment to look around, soak it up, and quietly say thanks for what it gives the bay.....

Ramblings of The Bay's adopted son
Danny Dobin
So now I’m out of the bay, the saying “absence makes the heart grow founder” springs to mind. So I hope you will indulgeme rose coloured look back over my impressions of the people and places I stumbled upon in the bay. People who saw me bring two of my three kids into the world, an helped me raise them. (Some of Georgie’s first words were “Boxy wedges” as coached by Nath and Matt from the backseat).
I’ll start with nath, who along with Bill is pretty much become my best mate. When I moved to the bay, nath had long blonde hair, a car full of absolute shit on the ground, and tried earnestly to convince me that New Found Glory were a good band. (Thank you Danny for opening my eyes to “good” music!). He was loud, always sure he was right, and a crackpot....... pretty much as he is now, really. He also is responsible for the best display of surfing ive seen, when he would pop up right on the wedge of six foot boxy and make amazing barrels on the knee.
Dal was the frothing grommie that lived right around the corner, used to come and bum bodyboard vids from me and gave me the name “Danny”, when he misheared me say “Dobbo” when he asked me my name out Boxy one day. Up until that point the only person that called me” danny” was Paully Moore, my under 13’s footy coach. Pretty amazing to think that he’s now one of the best riders in the world, absolute wave magnet , king of box , and I guy I draw alot of inspiration from with his riding. He’s still a humble, frothing grom at heart.
Despite Russ listening to terrible pop punk music, and being a Dragonball Z fan (WTF?) I’ll make this bold statement. Russ is the most naturally talent guy I’ve seen in the water, was better than Dal as a young guy, and is the guy I enjoy seeing surf the most. Fck the guy was landing 720’S five years ago, does massive airs, and can dropknee like a demon to. Creative genius.
Palmzoid. Matt is a passionate guy. And it’s passion that allows him to succeed. He wasn’t a natural guy in the water, but through dedication, passion and focus he’s built himself into an absolute bullshit rider. Pocket rider like Kingy or Lester, how I want to surf. But Matt’s triumps in the water are vastly overshadowed by his triumphs in life. Through adversity comes strength, the way in which Matt has molded himself into a stand up man and a role model is a triumph.
